I don't see dead people.
I see you.
I see every incarnation of you.
I see the history of your soul.
I can see your aura soaked in the blood of your previous lives.
Most people are inherently good or evil.
Some flit between darkness and light.
Few can change the fabric of their essence; it's a fight that most are too weak to win.
He was once darkness.
An evil so pure that his very soul is black and yet I am drawn to him like a moth to a flame.
Some days, I feel like I am drowning, the waves of my feelings stealing the very air from my lungs.
Other days, I feel nothing at all.
I'm unsure which is worse; gasping for air or dying from this thirst.
Can you learn to breathe underwater when you find someone worth drowning for?
Feyness is a dark standalone.
Readers of a sensitive disposition may want to step away from the book.
Step away, nothing to see here.
Readers who like to dance on the dark side, come on in and enjoy the ride.

I'm going to be completely honest with this one. I purchased this book the day it came out just because of the author; however, I just read it today. I know... Shame on me, but I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was afraid I wouldn't like it. How wrong I was. WOW!!This book is dark dark dark... But it shows more light than you think. Faye and Cole have so much in common: Anger, resentment, revenge. However they come in different fashions for both of them. Cole is dark... So so so dark, but once you learn of his life and reasons, you sort of understand, and that's just a weird thought due to how menacing he can be. Faye's darkness is different because she's lived a life of solitude and abuse in ways you cannot even imagine. She goes from one dark life to another, but it's her gift that allows her to see things that no one knows about. She sees things in Cole that makes her realize he may not be a monster, but a revenge-seeking man that has some aspects that show light.
I seriously could not put this down, which is odd because I couldn't bring myself to read it in the first place. There is violence and horrible things that happen, But there are so many empowering parts to this story that you fall in ways that you cannot imagine. I implore you to read this book.

Feyness A Dark Romance The Red Order Book 1 edition by ES Carter Cover Me Darling Romance eBooks Reviews
I LOVE dark romance. And when I see an author venturing into that genre, I get really freaking excited. But I also get nervous. I have high standards for what constitutes a great dark romance.
This met every one.
The writing was on point and deliciously detailed. Carter's descriptions and dialogue were so perfect that I just couldn't put this book down! Cole and Faye were dark, decadent, and sultry in the most perfect way.
I will say that this is definitely a dark romance, not dark erotica. Although there are plenty of steamy AWESOME scenes, Feyness is, without a doubt, plot and character driven. Her writing reminds me of Pepper Winters at her finest, bringing together carnage and forbidden desires perfectly. Definitely one I need to own in paperback.
"Readers who like to dance on the dark side, come on in and enjoy the ride." And so author E.S. Carter entices you into the dark tale that is feyness. There were times when I was reading this story that I felt there was no light in sight, not even a faint twinkle on the horizon. This would catch fans of this author's other work out as it is very different and quite a departure.
I loved it!
I love an author who shakes the reader up and keeps them on their toes! An author who always delights with her writing - whether the subject matter is contemporary romance or a journey to the darker and more twisted side of humanity. E.S. Carter is such an author.
Feyness is told from the dual points of view of Faye and Cole - the two main protagonists of the story. They are two people who have been forged and formed from the most horrific events imaginable. Faye is a survivor and Cole is a monster. When she is gifted to Cole by her own father - Cole sees it as a bonus in his overall scheme for revenge. To him the sins of the father very much rest on the perfect skin of his new wife but that's where our tale takes its first turn...
The resulting relationship between Faye and Cole is never anything less than brutally honest. He doesn't suddenly go all puppies & rainbows once he discovers his new bride isn't exactly a chip off the old fatherly block. For her part, Faye is depicted perfectly as someone who was starved of love and affection from a young age. She is so unfamiliar with any sort of affection or compassion that she is almost like a pigeon picking at the scraps of attention her new husband throws her way. Soon they come to realise that they have a common objective and, despite their perceived differences, have more in common than they thought. We watch as their relationship unfolds and moves towards something that could provide salvation for both of them.
I loved the way the author stayed true to the characters at all times - especially Cole. At no point does he morph into a romantic hero in the classic sense. At best we see him exposed to a little bit of light and can only guess at the character he can become.
This is not a love story in the classic sense of the term but the characters of Faye and Cole have more to gain than most from their dark connection. Feyness is a story that will stay with you long after you have read it! Enjoy!
